Peace Summit 2026
Project Overview
From Vision to Action: Inside the Rotaract Kenya Youth-Led Peace Movement

Peace is often treated as an abstract ideal discussed in distant conference halls. However, the Rotaract Club of Hurlingham and Rotaract District 9212 are actively shifting the narrative across Kenya. By treating peace as a daily, personal choice, their regional campaigns mobilize young people to become the primary architects of local conflict resolution.
The Hurlingham Peace Summit Framework
Launched as an immersive experience rather than a one-off convention, the Hurlingham Peace Summit bridges structural dialogue with grassroots action. The initiative is built on an intersectional model, recognizing that societal stability relies on multiple overlapping social pillars.
This dynamic approach is mapped below:
Peacebuilding Pillar | Core Focus & Operational Method |
|---|---|
Individual Accountability | Digital literacy training to promote civility and positive personal choices online. |
Intersectional Alliances | Uniting education, media, justice, and environmental sustainability institutions. |
Capacity and Care | Combining formal mediation skills training with dedicated mental health advocacy. |
Redefining Advocacy: The "Peace in Color" Festivals
To move peace building out of conventional boardrooms, Rotaract Kenya introduced the Peace in Color Fests. These vibrant regional gatherings use creative expression to spark collective community healing and lower local barriers to entry for youth civic engagement:
The Nakuru & Kisumu Fests: Gathered hundreds of local youth to utilize painting, live music, and storytelling to transform cultural narratives.
Creative Diplomacy: Integrated culture and fashion showcases to elect Peace Campaign Ambassadors who champion unity through authentic modern leadership.
Skill and Soul Alignment: Equipped participants with actionable tools for conflict resolution while addressing underlying trauma through inner healing.

Scaled Global Impact
What began as local club programming has quickly scaled into international prominence. By empowering young leaders with formal mediation skills, Rotaract Kenya actively elevates youth voices onto global policy stages, directly contributing to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 (UNSCR 2250) on Youth, Peace, and Security. Through continuous iterations—including expansions into the Mt. Kenya region—the initiative proves that lasting harmony is built on sustainable, youth-led everyday actions.
